First of all – is it vintage or is it retro????

There is no need for stating the obvious: retro is a huge trend. Or should I say, vintage? And which is the right way to use these two words?
According to wikipedia, Retro is a “culturally outdated or aged style, trend, mode, or fashion, from the overall postmodern past, that has since that time become functionally or superficially the norm once again”. Thus, whereas retro is a trend, Vintage, on the other hand is simply defined as “a term used to describe something as old or antique“.

In the context of “retro-mania” it is not only design that goes back to earlier decades to seek inspiration, but also visual artists, as illustrators and media trendsetters.

Example #1: fake vintage social media posters:

Example #2: vintage movie posters

( I found some more cool  retro Star Wars posters here)

Example #3: Vintage classic fairy-tales covers

(pretty ‘dark’ and spooky but suit the mood of the tales, if you think of it!)

What do you make of these? Is it still “fresh” if it old-ish?
