September is the month of translation as we celebrate International Translation Day, on the celebration day of Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators!
Here’s a few celebrations from around the world:
A day event in the British Library by Free Word, English PEN and the British Library in association with the British Centre for Literary Translation, Literature Across Frontiers , the Translators’ Association, Wales Literature Exchange and Words Without Borders.
A very interesting event will be held by Metafrasi, the top quality translation school in Athens.
I’ll keep you posted for more as it seems there haven’t been announced that many yet…
NEW EVENTS AS PROMISED:
Open Day & Party με live music και υποτροφίες – At Glossologia School
TRANSLATOR AS AN OBJECT OF DESIRE – in WarsAw
The Changing Face of Translation and Interpreting – an event by the IFT
A 2 DAY VIRTUAL CONFERENCE BY PROZ
- Also, it’s a month for community and networking among translators and Proz’s Community Choice awards is open for voting until September 22nd.
My beloved Catherine from Lingua Greca is nominated for Twitter as Best overall “Twitter”, based on activity from January 2014 to date. She should be nominated for almost all categories (not sure if its possible, but still! Her online presence is invaluable!)
InGreektranslations is also nominated for best professional translator’s website.
- And here’s my new poster for my translation office! What do you think?
You can also follow a few interesting threads and join discussions in Twitter with the following hashtags as listed by a very nice blog, Language by Laura!
